Many, or all, articles, items, gifts and money are regularly stolen en route by people who are desperate for money and valuables, which, once stolen, they use themselves or subsequently exchange for money.
No matter how heavily a man from the West registers, insures or attempts to secure his correspondence, it is not uncommon to find this correspondence gets interfered with or just disappears en route, never to be seen or heard of again.
Also, correspondence can get misplaced or sidetracked en route. Frequently it can take up to, and over, 2 months for correspondence to reach a lady - if it gets there at all. If the lady lives in a smaller city, it can take even longer.
- Customs Control
If you thought that 'Customs' in Western countries tends to act in an overzealous manner, it is nothing compared to the way 'Customs' in Eastern Europe conducts itself. On the surface, what is put forward is an image of respectability regarding the inspection and acceptance of correspondence. However many men have been made witness to the real face of the Eastern European 'Customs' process - a face that is not necessarily one to be proud of. Packages regularly get ripped to pieces in an attempt to search for valuables contained within. Just like the postal system, things go missing, never to be seen or heard of again.
